Have you heard the saying “Content Is King?” That drives me crazy. Content is not a king. It’s the Messenger that runs in between castles bringing the news. It’s the Muse, entertaining the crowd. It’s the Sojourner, breaking into unchartered waters. It doesn’t sit on a throne – or anywhere! The very nature of content is diverse and dynamic.
In marketing, content carries the brand and communicates the message using a variety of media. At Local Net Results, we try to exploit as much diversity of content as possible. In the example above, a kingdom wouldn’t be much fun with just the king sitting on a throne. Likewise, just words on a page would not appeal to everyone – let’s create some video and digital photography to instruct and inspire potential customers to want to do business with you.
So now we’ve got it, what do we do with it? As opposed to content creation, content marketing involves the distribution and syndication of content.
Website Development – The company website is perhaps the best place to syndicate content. Regarding SEO, a larger website is better than a small one as page content reinforces other page content. We spend a lot of time writing web page copy for our clients during the initial build. Some web development companies like to “build out” as they go. Not us. We like to load up the whole enchilada because the search engines eat it up!
Blogging – Adding posts to the website blog is a great way to strengthen the website and syndicate content over social media platforms. When I say ‘blogging,” the customer usually runs the other way! Who’s got time to write blog posts? We provide copywriting services for our clients who do not have the time to write.
Video Syndication – Not only can video be posted on a YouTube channel, we can embed it on static webpages, blogs, and social media sites. Creating a viral loop through these platforms has a compounding effect on SEO. We have had great success also with ranking videos on the first page of Google.
Photo Sharing – Professional photography always gives you the best bang for the buck. A picture is worth 1000 words, right? Images are used on webpages, blog posts, and shared on social sites like Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest. They can be uploaded to optimize local directories like Yelp, Houzz, and your Google Local page.
